The Finale
We woke early on Day 11 ready for the final day of the tour and the last 20km to Monte Carlo.
Last night we encountered an unexpected challenge as there was no car park in central Nice near our hotel able to take our support van due to it's height. We could find street parking but this was difficult to find and anyway, as he hotel refused us taking bikes into our rooms, we were not keen on this either. Our solution was to book Owen into another hotel on the outskirts of Nice with the necessary parking and the van filled with bikes should be safe.

It was a relief when Owen appeared before breakfast with the van full of bikes (the contingency plan was to cycle in on Lime bikes!) so we could set off to complete our journey. The last 20km went smoothly over the cliffs from Nice dropping into Monte Carlo. It was a race against time to reach Casino Square for our allotted time that we had received a permit for and to beat the heavy rain that was the forecast from around 9am
.
As we completed our challenge it was emotional for all as friends and colleagues came to congratulate us, we did some interviews on Insurer TV, the champagne flowed and the heavy rain arrived (and stayed for the next 5 hours). What an achievement for all the team of riders, the support crew and our other family and colleagues that helped us throughout our journey.

The only thing left to do was pack the van up ready for Owen to drive back to the UK, 6 weary riders stripped off the Lycra for the last time, showered in Cuttsy's Airbnb (thanks that was such a god send) and then off to a well deserved lunch!
We are pleased to report that due all your generosity we have managed to raise over £90,000 which we will be pleased to present our charities Maggies, Felix and Mind.

I hope that you enjoyed this blog that charted our journey and detailed some of the fun and laughter we had on the way to get us through the pain and suffering.

Until the next time…….
